Tiraspol, February 20. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Over the past few years, Pridnestrovie has been experiencing strong pressure from three external factors, which have now reached an unprecedented level, the head of the PMR MFA Vitaly Ignatiev stated.
The first factor is global and regional instability associated with a deep crisis in the modern system of international relations and the reorganization of the world.
The second factor is the artificial "coma" of the negotiation process, the main reason for which is Moldova's refusal to use diplomatic methods to resolve problems.
As the press service of the PMR MFA writes, at the reporting Collegium for 2024 the head of the foreign policy department expressed bewilderment at the position of some external participants in the Permanent Conference on Political Issues within the Framework of the Negotiation Process on the Pridnestrovian Settlement. He noted that individual participants of the multilateral consultative mechanism "have been indifferently watching Chisinau completely disrupt all agreements for years," including the 2016-2018 package of agreements, ignoring Pridnestrovie's initiatives to improve and intensify the dialogue, and not noticing the actions of the Republic of Moldova to grossly destroy the PMR economic basis in violation of free trade norms and EU rules.
Vitaly Ignatiev described the blockade and restrictive measures of the Republic of Moldova against the PMR, as well as the massive violation of human rights, as the third factor of external pressure. "Of course, the humanitarian and energy crisis has become the apogee of the cumulative long-term pressure on Pridnestrovie. The chronology of the crisis development shows that Chisinau deliberately used this factor to inflict the maximum possible damage on the republic and our citizens," the diplomat said.
The head of the PMR MFA also recalled the initiative of Pridnestrovie to send a joint appeal calling for continued transit of Russian gas, noting that the Moldovan side not only rejected it, but also organized an information campaign to discredit Russia and the PMR and primitively intimidate people. The RM officials` statements were demonstratively inhumane.
"Pridnestrovie has coped with another stress test, acquired valuable experience, secured the support of healthy forces and did not renounce its strategic goals and identity. I think that for many, the unique level of national unity, society`s stress resistance and the viability of state mechanisms of our republic came as a surprise," the Minister said.
According to Vitaly Ignatiev, in the context of Moldova's inhumane approaches, the Foreign Ministry will continue to focus the attention of the world community on the need to respect human rights and seek to overcome stagnation in the negotiation process. Separately, he noted the constant support of the Russian side in the issue of resuming the full-fledged work of the 5 + 2 format, as well as in protecting the peacekeeping operation.
The head of the MFA believes that after the difficulties experienced, Pridnestrovie will take a worthy place in the new configuration of international relations.
"The period of transformation of the international relations` system is always the most difficult historical moment, but along with this, a time of unique opportunities. It is in such conditions, when yesterday's foundation is gone, and the new one is only just being formed, that unity and consolidation are more important than ever for the Pridnestrovian people and state. Our freedom, our rights, our language, history, culture and traditions, and together this is identity, this is the foundation that will help us overcome the geopolitical storm. It will allow us to preserve ourselves and ensure a worthy place in the new configuration of international relations," the head of the foreign policy department concluded.
