Vadim Krasnoselsky honored the memory of Alexander Nevsky and congratulated Archbishop Sawa

The memory of the great diplomat and commander Alexander Nevsky is deeply revered in Pridnestrovie. Landscaped near the walls of the Bendery Fortress the park is named after the prince. The Alexander Nevsky Church is nearby. The church was built in the first half of the 19th century. Only the walls remained after the war and the period of church persecution. The church was restored in the early 2000s. A festive service was held here today.

A portrait sculpture of Alexander Nevsky is installed in the center of the park. Flowers are laid at it on memorable dates. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Ozerov, Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova Vladimir, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa arrived to honor the memory of the statesman and military figure today, on the day of the celebration of the transfer of the relics of the holy faithful prince.

The participants of the memorial event spoke about the greatness of the personality of Alexander Nevsky and the scale of his historical role. Oleg Ozerov mentioned that Nevsky is the patron of Russian diplomacy, and said that the portrait sculpture of the prince was installed in the atrium of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The interlocutors discussed the importance of preserving memory. The Russian ambassador highly appreciated the work on the restoration of the Bendery Fortress.

After the flower-laying ceremony, The PMR President congratulated Archbishop Sawa on the 30th anniversary of his episcopal ordination. A significant event in the life of the priest took place on September 12, 1995 – the day of the celebration of the transfer of the relics of the holy blessed prince Alexander Nevsky.
