Farit Mukhametshin thanks Pridnestrovian leadership for assisting in organising Russia's presidential election

The president and the head of the CEC of the PMR discussed with the Russian ambassador the formation of electoral commissions from among Russian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, 5 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian president met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Farit Mukhametshin. They discussed the preparation for Russia's presidential elections in Pridnestrovie. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of the PMR, Elena Gorodetskaya, the presidential press service reports.

Vadim Krasnoselky informed the Russian ambassador about the work that had been done with the state and local authorities.

"They [authorities] are all aimed at close and comprehensive interaction with the Russian embassy on the organization and conduct of elections. Without this, it is difficult to imagine any effective preparatory work," the president noted, expressing the hope that Russian citizens living in Pridnestrovie would show high activity during the elections.

Farit Mukhametshin expressed gratitude to Pridnestrovie for assisting the embassy in carrying out an important political event.

The ambassador emphasized the expediency of the decision to increase the number of polling stations. Twenty-four polling stations will open in Pridnestrovie on 18 March.

"The past State Duma elections showed that there were not enough places for voting," the Russian diplomat explained. According to him, today the Russian embassy in the Republic of Moldova is ready to start working with the local authorities of Pridnestrovie, counting on active and fruitful cooperation.

Farit Mukhametshin discussed with Vadim Krasnoselsky and Elena Gorodetsky an important aspect of the preparations for voting - the formation of election commissions from among Russian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie.

"It will require about seven hundred people who have experience in this kind of work, as well as those who enjoy the confidence of voters. In this regard, we need the help of the country's leadership and Russian communities," said the ambassador.

The current situation in the negotiation process was another topic discussed by the president and the Russian ambassador. In particular, they talked about the proposals which were still at the stage of discussion, as well as about the agreements between Transnistria and Moldova awaiting implementation.
