A meeting between the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe was held in the negotiation hall of the presidential executive office. The Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the OSCE Raphael Nägeli and his colleague from Germany Susanne Schütz visited Pridnestrovie for the first time. The foreign guests were introduced to the PMR President by the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova Kelly Keiderling.
Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized the role of the OSCE in the process of settling the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict, calling the organization an important negotiating tool. "We have been observing stagnation in the negotiation process and have to do everything possible to resume it. There are many opinions regarding the "5 + 2" format. There are supporters and opponents of continuing the work. I see its necessity and real prospects for establishing relations by means of this format", Vadim Krasnoselsky noted. He focused on the upcoming Switzerland chairmanship of the OSCE in 2026 and expressed hope that this country will be imbued with the need for negotiations as such. "There is no need to invent something new if there is something that has already proven its effectiveness. We just need to resume work," the President of the PMR considers.
"We see the OSCE as an important tool for cooperation and ensuring security in Europe. How far this instrument is decided by the participating countries and the parties of the conflict. You can count on Switzerland for full intention abiling us to use the instruments at its maximum. How far we will proceed depends on the parties", emphasized Raphael Nägeli.
"Germany is monitoring the process and is a strong supporter in the settlement," assured Susanne Schütz in turn.
She noted that, like the representative of Switzerland, she arrived in Tiraspol to get acquainted with the situation on the ground.
The meeting participants agreed to exchange opinions and proposals regarding the intensification of the negotiation process, the establishment of relations between the parties, and the resolution of practical issues of life support.
