International Meetings of the President

Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Moldova Fred Duijn at the presidential executive office. The diplomat arrived in Tiraspol accompanied by embassy specialists on political and economic issues. Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev took part in the discussion on the Pridnestrovian side.

They discussed the importance of dialogue and the inadmissibility of substituting the negotiation process, emphasizing that it is precisely in its absence that problems arise and worsen. "Pridnestrovie, possessing common sense and counting on the common sense of everyone else, traditionally supports the resumption of the 5+2 format, adhering to the concept that all issues must be resolved at the negotiating table," Vadim Krasnoselsky said. He emphasized that a working negotiating platform is needed to discuss the current agenda – environment, economy, law enforcement, ensuring security and peace, and respect for human rights and freedoms. The President drew attention to the fact that even the activities of existing expert groups have been cut fivefold in recent years.

Fred Duijn focused on the topic of European financial aid among other things. This refers to 60 million euros, information about which was actively discussed in February and March on various platforms and in the media. It was said that this was targeted assistance for Pridnestrovie to overcome the energy crisis. The Dutch ambassador made a similar comment today. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled in response that the money, declared as humanitarian aid, was offered to Pridnestrovie under certain conditions: receiving the 60 million euros required an unconditional shutdown of industry of Pridnestrovie, which would have led to the layoff of tens of thousands of workers and, consequently, global social upheaval. "Do you think this assistance is beneficial or harmful? I stated from the outset that under such slaving conditions the “aid” could not be accepted," Vadim Krasnoselsky said. He stated that these funds could certainly be put to good use. For example, to prevent an environmental disaster. The PMR President reported on the malfunctioning wastewater treatment facilities in Chisinau and other Moldovan cities. Wastewater from there flows directly into the Dniester. As a result, the river's pollution levels are 200 times higher than normal, according to several indicators. European humanitarian aid could be channeled to restore Moldovan wastewater treatment systems and modernize Pridnestrovian ones, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted.

The interlocutors discussed media activities in the context of freedom of the media – how this democratic principle is implemented in Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Vadim Krasnoselsky cited specific examples of media coverage, emphasizing the biased approaches of Moldovan media outlets and their ignorance of reality.
