Tiraspol, December 23. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie is observing only lies, politicization, and outdated stereotypes from Moldova’s side, instead of cooperation in maintaining law, order and combating crime, PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky noted in an interview with the Pridnestrovian television channels’ chief editors.
The head of state cited as an example the detention of a large consignment of contraband weapons on the Moldovan-Romanian border and the detention by Pridnestrovian law enforcement of 16 individuals who were attempting to smuggle narcotic mixtures from Moldova into Pridnestrovie.
Vadim Krasnoselsky also reminded that in the year of 1999 and 2001, cooperation agreements were signed between the law enforcement agencies of Pridnestrovie and Moldova, which Moldova withdrew from in 2004. Since then, there has been no talk of any normal cooperation.
If the agreements were in effect, a Moldovan law enforcement officer, upon receiving reports of a Moldovan drug courier being detained in Pridnestrovie, would have the opportunity to come, interrogate the detainee, obtain materials’ copies collected by their Pridnestrovian counterparts and use them to identify the chain of suppliers, customers, and organizers of the criminal schemes. This would benefit both Moldova and Pridnesrovie. Instead, the issue is merely politicized.
“One of the first documents the Moldovan parliament adopted after its election was a 10-year military strategy,” the PMR President noted. “We see old approaches, old stereotypes, and lies. And one of the most important issues that parliamentarians are voting for (almost 100% voted for this doctrine) is the “threat of arms smuggling into and from Pridnestrovie”
The PMR President noted, that such example shows, that it’s convenient for the Moldovan authorities to ignore the fact that a military conflict is underway on Ukrainian territory and that criminal groups are building their illegal activities on this.
The whole President’s interview will be broadcast on the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel and TSV. An audio version will also be available on Radio 1. Also, you can read interview on the Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency website and in the Pridnestrovie newspaper.
