Tiraspol, 21 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia's deputy foreign minister Grigory Karasin has met today Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky. During the meeting, the Russian diplomat expressed gratitude to the Pridnestrovians for their active participation in Russia's presidential election.

"The participation was outstanding, active this time. Indeed, 74,000 voters is a high figure. And everything was organized splendidly," said Grigory Karasin.

The Russian diplomat thanked the country's leadership for assistance in organising and conducting the election.

"Everything was organized perfectly. A good result, and it is important that this impetus, which was given by the election campaign, should not vanish but continue in some other specific cases," said Karasin.

According to the Russian diplomat, the 18 March election has demonstrated the unity of the Russian world against the backdrop of the external pressure and provocations that are being carried out today against Russia.

Twenty-four polling stations were opened in Pridnestrovie during Russia's presidential election, in which 73,947 Rusian citizens took part. This is the highest voter turnout ever shown in the country during Russian elections. For comparison, during the last presidential election in 2012, the turnout amounted to 50,365 with 85% of voters supporting Vladimir Putin. In 2016, 55,693 Russian citizens living in Pridnestrovie took part in Russia's State Duma elections. Eighty-seven public observers, delegated by Russia's Public Chamber, monitored the election.
