The director of the Bureau of Political Studies "Mediator", Sergey Shirokov, notes that the results of the Russian presidential election in the PMR indicate a corresponding assessment by the Pridnestrovians of the Russian authorities.
"This is an understanding of how important this presidential election is in terms of Russia's future, its strategic development. Here, our countrymen, citizens of the Russian Federation living in Pridnestrovie, expressed their active civic position," said Shirokov.
The pundit drew attention to the fact that 25% of the voters who voted abroad are Pridnestrovian residents. It should be recalled that 24 precinct election commissions worked in the country.
"This signifies trust. This also signifies that Russia sees and understands that there is a public request in Pridnestrovie for participation in such important political processes as the election of the Russian president... Pridnestrovie's claims about its inseparable ties with Russia are being confirmed," Shirokov believes.
The past elections, the pundit says, have shown the high-quality work of both the Russian embassy and Pridnestrovian authorities.
"This is a signal that Pridnestrovie is capable of organising high-level events such as Russian elections," he concluded.
The overwhelming majority of voters in Pridnestrovie - 96.4% -cast their votes for Vladimir Putin during the Russian presidential election that were held last Sunday. The Central Election Commission of the PMR has reported a high turnout: 73,947 citizens took part in voting.
