Tiraspol, 1 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, passing through passport control in Kishinev airport ahead of his diplomatic trip to Moscow, the Pridnestrovian foreign ministry, Vitaly Ignatyev, was subject to meticulous examination, the so-called «second line» examination, says the statement of Pridnestrovie's MFA.

It is stressed that Molodvan immigration police officers could not provide any reasonable grounds for applying this measure of control to the Pridnestrovian official, who is the citizen of Pridnestrovie and the Russian Federation. Besides, when searching through the diplomat's personal luggage, an immigration police officer was showing particular interest in discovering in-house documents and materials.

«The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR expresses its strong protest over demonstratively provocative actions taken by the Moldovan authorities against the Pridnestrovian foreign minister, who is the special representative for political affairs in the negotiation process. The MFA of the PMR considers such administrative restrictions as an evidence of exerting direct political pressure on Pridnestrovie's official representative in the negotiation process, which goes counter to the generally accepted international diplomatic convention and procedures of cooperation in the negotiation process, including within the 5+2 format, as well as the logic and principles of respectful communication. Such escapades undermine the efforts by the sides and external participants of the negotiation process aimed at establishing a climate of confidence and are absolutely inadmissible," emphasises the statement.

It is also noted that there have been increasing attempts in recent months to use these primitive methods of influence against the leadership and citizens of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which «testifies to rapid degradation of official Kishinev's political culture, highlighting the Moldovan authorities' disrespect for official commitments they make within the international negotiation process.»

The Pridnestrovian foreign ministry will request an explanation for this incident from Moldova's special representative for political affairs, Georghe Balanu, as well as inform all 5+2 format participants about the incident, asking them to give an official evaluation of the actions by Moldova, «which negatively affect relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie, disrupt a climate of confidence, as well as the stability and prestige of the existing international negotiation procedures in the process of the Pridnestrovian settlement.»

«The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR states that any coercive measures taken by Moldova against Pridnestrovian citizens, including the country's authorities, are inadmissible and once again urges the Moldovan side to refuse any destructive actions aggravating bilateral relations," concludes the MFA's statement.
