The President held the Security Council meeting

Vadim Krasnoselsky convened the PMR Security Council. The topic was energy. Deputy Chairman of the Government Sergei Obolonik delivered a report on the current state of affairs. He stated that the country is in a state of not only an energy, but also a humanitarian crisis. The minister emphasized at the same time that the measures taken before the cessation of gas supplies to the republic have proven their effectiveness. The reserved 13 million cubic meters of gas make it possible to supply a number of social institutions and other life support facilities of society, as well as residential multi-story buildings for cooking. Another important aspect: maintaining even a minimal movement of gas in the system maintains its activity and will subsequently allow promptly resuming full-fledged gas supply. If the system were to freeze, it would take more than a month to revive it. The republican gas consumption is 270 thousand cubic meters currently. Sergei Obolonik, citing the assessment of experts, called this indicator good. The resource will be enough from today for another 24 days. Important: this is a common period for the entire country (earlier it was assumed that the south of the republic would be supplied with a limited volume of gas until January 20, the north - until the 10th). The point that the speaker drew attention to: if Pridnestrovians actively heated their homes with gas burners on kitchen stoves in 2009, during the energy crisis, most people heat themselves with electric appliances now. The natural result is a colossal increase in the load on the power grid. Residents of the republic used up to 45 MW per hour in winter in previous years, in normal mode, consumption by the population in January 2025 was 170 MW, and the total for the country was 220 megawatts. The State District Power Plant in Dnestrovsk switched to coal. This part of the equipment was not modernized unlike units operating on gas. Launching the system at maximum load is extremely risky. They tested the generation of 170 MW per hour at the peak, but constantly working in this mode is fraught with emergency situations, a complete shutdown of the station and a collapse of the power system. Experts insist on a maximum of 150 MW. 23 MW of this is needed by the Moldavian GRES itself for the production process. This difference is covered by the Dubossary Hydroelectric Power Station. The republic can use approximately 150 megawatts of electricity for current needs in total. Power engineers maneuver the available capacities with the help of rolling blackouts. An hourly, three-hour and even four-hour shutdown was not enough. The transition to turning off the power supply twice a day for 4 hours had a positive effect. They are studying other options – more comfortable for the population and safer for the system. The issue of launching Tirotex-energo is being worked on, which will allow generating another 10 MW per hour.

Sergey Obolonik said that 91 teams of power engineers 290 specialists worked during these difficult days for the whole country. 30 units of special equipment were dispatched to emergency calls. 567 network faults were eliminated, the consequences of which were felt by over 30 thousand subscribers of the Unified Distribution Grids. 18223 applications were accepted. Thousands of fuses and circuit breakers were replaced. Vadim Krasnoselsky called the work of power engineers during this crisis period a feat, performed daily and around the clock. He noted that every time has its heroes: these were military personnel during the war, doctors during the pandemic, and employees of services providing the population with energy resources now.

They talked about heat supply. The centralized supply of heat to residential buildings has been stopped since January 1. Circulation in the system has been maintained at the same time – to ensure the possibility of rapid resumption when conditions change. Cooling of the system provoked emergency situations. Three main, eight intra-block, 795 intra-house faults have been eliminated.

The Security Council members discussed the work of industry in the conditions of the energy crisis. The President emphasized that the food security of the republic is ensured – this is the result of many years of joint work and a properly built domestic policy. As for the operation of production facilities in the absence of gas supply, the system will not cope with such a load. The only possible option is for enterprises to operate at night. The reserve formed from midnight to eight in the morning will be enough for the production process of the real sector of the economy, with the exception of the largest energy-intensive industries of the republic. There are organizations that have announced their readiness to switch to such a regime. The Union of Industrialists, Farmers and Entrepreneurs of Pridnestrovie has been instructed to gather the heads of enterprises to discuss further actions.
