Vadim Krasnoselsky and Elina Valtonen exchanged views on topical issues

The protocol part of the meeting between the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Elina Valtonen was quite long – about half an hour. Welcoming the guests, the PMR President called their visit important. He emphasized that the attention of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office is always valuable, and in the current difficult realities for the republic of the energy crisis and the resulting humanitarian crisis and the risk of a man-made disaster, it is of particular importance. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the current situation in the energy sector is a consequence. It is necessary to discuss not only it, but also the reason why hundreds of thousands of citizens in the center of Europe were left without energy resources. The PMR President emphasized that it is necessary to look for a long-term perspective rather than a solution to the current problem for a month, so that citizens are confident in the future and get rid of negative trends. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that it is the OSCE's competence to facilitate the search for a solution. The PMR President said that existing problems should be considered in two directions – political and economic. Vadim Krasnoselsky is sure that the destructive factor is the lack of a negotiation process in the first block. He recalled the history of the functioning and blocking of the "5 + 2" format by Moldova, spoke about his desire for dialogue at the highest level and the Moldovan leadership's ignoring of numerous proposals from Pridnestrovie to hold meetings in the "1 + 1" format.

As for the economic component of the current situation in the energy sector: Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that it is based on the incorrect attitude of Moldovagaz to its obligations towards PJSC Gazprom. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed hope that the Finnish Chairmanship would do everything possible to resume the work of the "Permanent Conference..." format. Elina Valtonen in turn said that it was an honor and pleasure for her to be in Pridnestrovie and personally express sympathy and support to the Pridnestrovian people, who found themselves in a difficult situation. She arrived in the republic on the ninth day of fulfilling her leadership powers in the OSCE. The diplomat spoke about her impressions from the visit to Chisinau, noting that the neighboring republic declared its readiness to provide Pridnestrovie with assistance in organizing the process of using European energy resources. It was noted that Moldova would not interfere in the event of the resumption of Russian gas supplies to Pridnestrovie. The Minister emphasized that she expects to look not to the past, but to the future and will facilitate the establishment of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The interlocutors spoke about the fact that Finland like the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic had gone through a difficult path to independence. The parties agreed that it is impossible to resolve any kind of contentious issues without dialogue and compromise based on mutual reciprocal movement.
