Bendery, 3 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovian law enforcers, conducting special investigation operation in Bendery’s Severny microdistrict, were detained by the Moldovan police when driving through Varnitsa village. The incident took place last night at 23:00.
«The Pridnestrovian members of the Joint Investigation Group were investigating a murder in the Severny microdistrict. The Moldovan police detained them in Varnitsa for three hours, thus holding up the investigation of a very grave crime,” said the head of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov.
The incident was settled only after the arrival of Bendery’s military commandant.
Oleg Belyakov recalled the history of the conflict, underscoring that cooperation of law enforcers of the conflict sides in the enhanced security area worsened when Moldova had quit bilateral agreements on internal affairs cooperation.
«It is well known that in 1998 an agreement was signed between Moldova’s and Pridnestrovie’s ministries of internal affairs, which was resigned in 2001. We know that criminality has no borders, and this allows both militsiya officers and policemen to carry on their operations based on these agreements. In 2004 the Moldovan side officially quit these agreements, declaring they violated the Moldovan constitution and ceased cooperation, which has resulted in such implications,” said Oleg Belyakov.
It is not the first case when the Moldovan police prevent the Pridnestrovian militsiya from fulfilling their official duties. The last incident of this kind also happened in Varnitsa on 4 February 2016.
