Tiraspol, January 12. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The problems accumulated over the past years in bilateral relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie only aggravated by the end of last year. This was stated in an interview to the Pridnestrovian mass media by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev. In particular, he emphasized that the detention of a shipment of neutral and Pridnestrovian license plates at the end of last year goes beyond common sense since as a result, vehicle registration points have ceased to function.
“The internal logic of the processes that are taking place in Moldova is not only incomprehensible to us but also our international partners, because it grossly contradicts the principles of dialogue in general and the protocol decision on motor transport, by which the OSCE allocated money for the registration points establishment and repair,” the head of the Foreign Ministry of the PMR noted. - This whole mechanism is now shattered by the fact that the Moldovan side delayed license plates. I don’t know, maybe my colleagues are unaware, maybe the specialists didn’t explain to them that a car can't get a neutral license plate without first registration in Pridnestrovie and a Pridnestrovian basic license plate. This is the absolute only condition, and there can be no other options here.”
Vitaly Ignatiev stressed that the Pridnestrovian side has intensified contact with the Moldovan side on this topical and most "boiling" issue.
“According to the information that we have today, the Moldovan side is ready to return the license plates at the level of functionaries, but is waiting for a political decision from on high,” the PMR Foreign Minister said. - Someone in Chisinau should not only take responsibility for the blockade and restrictive measures, but also the consequences of these measures. It is very important".
VRP in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa were established after the signing on April 24, 2018, of the Protocol Decision on the participation of vehicles from Pridnestrovie that do not carry out commercial activities in international road traffic. In VRP, private car owners can get neutral license plates, which today is impossible to travel without not only to the EU countries but also to Ukraine.
Since September 1, as you know, Kyiv, at the suggestion of the Moldovan authorities, has banned cars with Pridnestrovian license plates from entering its territory. This gave rise to a crisis with the movement of vehicles from the PMR, which has not yet been resolved.
