Tiraspol, November 19. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie has lost more than $9.5 million, which Moldova took into its budget by introducing new customs duties from the beginning of 2024. This was reported by the head of the PMR MFA Vitaly Ignatiev during a meeting of political representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The diplomat emphasized that Chisinau had no legal grounds for this.
«Pridnestrovie is one of the main donors to the Republic of Moldova along with the EU countries. This situation is problematic, since these are the financial resources that we cannot use for social development... This is a problem that we need to solve," the head of the PMR MFA Vitaly Ignatiev said.
Let us recall that from January 1, 2024, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova unilaterally introduced illegal customs duties against Pridnestrovian companies. Until that time, PMR enterprises had never paid these duties. In August 2023, Chisinau blocked the export of electrical engineering enterprises. In 2019, Moldova blocked the accounts of Pridnestrovian companies, limiting Pridnestrovie's foreign trade. The problem of blocking the import of medicines and medical equipment to the PMR, created by Chisinau, has not yet been resolved.
