Tiraspol, February 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, there was held an online meeting of expert groups of the PMR and the Republic of Moldova on the development of transport and road facilities. According to the official website of the PMR Foreign Ministry, it was convened on the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side.
The main issue at the meeting was the activity of Vehicle Registration Points (VRPs) in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa. Representatives of Pridnestrovie came up with an initiative that would allow the return to full-fledged work of the VRPs in the coming months.
To do this, in particular, it will be necessary to resolve the problem with the artificial restrictions adopted in Moldova at the legislative level on the registration of the VRPs of those cars that were imported to Pridnestrovie before September 2018.
Representatives of the PMR noted that such restrictions are contrary to the Protocol decision of April 24, 2018. This decision, we recall, determines the principles for the participation of Pridnestrovian vehicles in international road traffic.
“The Pridnestrovian side expects that the competent departments of Moldova will soon submit a legislative initiative to review these unmotivated restrictions,” the message on the MFA website emphasizes.
Also, representatives of the PMR appealed to the Moldovan side with a request to speed up the solution of the issue related to the procurement of Pridnestrovian license plates. They noted that, according to the agreements signed in 1995, 2001, and 2018, traffic on the roads of the PMR and the RM with Pridnestrovian license plates cannot be restricted. In addition, without the appropriate blanks, the subsequent registration of cars in the VRPs is also impossible.
Also, at today's meeting the parties discussed the issue of authenticating issued driver's licenses, insurance under Green Card agreements, and logistics using several bridges across the Dniester River.
