PMR Foreign Minister: Moldova is not ready to build up relationships with Pridnestrovie

Vitaly Ignatiev noted that the path chosen by Pridnestrovie towards international recognition of independence and rapprochement with Russia was an appropriate choice

Tiraspol, December 10. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev commented on the situation development in relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova in an interview with the Russian Politika Segodnya News Agency.

According to the diplomat, the statements of the Moldovan politicians and the internal political processes in the neighboring country create a worrisome background. At the same time, the Moldovan authorities do not fulfill their obligations under the previously reached agreements. The situation is aggravated by the political crisis in the neighboring country.

“The current processes in the neighboring state show that Moldova is deeply immersed in solving its domestic political problems like decades ago and, apparently, is not ready to build up mature and responsible relationships with Pridnestrovie yet,” the Minister concluded.

Ignatiev said that Pridnestrovie maintained a proactive position within the framework of the negotiation process with Moldova. But Moldovan authorities` statements of the need to withdraw the Russian peacekeepers, who are the guarantors of peace in the region, only increase turbulence.

“The worrisome background that is being created once again confirms that Pridnestrovie made an appropriate choice: defend its own independence, achieve wide international recognition and all-round rapprochement with Russia,” Vitaly Ignatiev stressed.
