The meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Moldova Fred Duijn took place in the presidential executive office. The diplomat was accompanied by embassy employees responsible for the political and economic directions. The PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev took part in the conversation from the Pridnestrovian side.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the situation around the perimeter of Pridnestrovie and as a result in the republic has changed for the worse since the previous meeting with Fred Duijn. The President expressed gratitude for the attention to the ongoing processes, noting that Holland can influence since it is a member of the EU and a participant in the "5 + 2" negotiation format. The PMR President emphasized at the same time that the "Permanent Conference ..." format has been idle since 2019. The crisis in the negotiations was then provoked by the deliberate disruption by the Moldovan side of the signing of the next block of final documents. A period of the format blocking work for far-fetched reasons followed then. This pernicious practice remains in effect to this day. Vadim Krasnoselsky considers that it is unacceptable to attribute inaction to dependence on external factors, which they are trying to attribute to the alleged impossibility of gathering representatives of Russia and Ukraine at the negotiating table – mediators in the "5+2" negotiating format, and at the moment – the conflicting parties. Vadim Krasnoselsky gave the example of the Joint Control Commission, which meets weekly with the participation of representatives of Pridnestrovie, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, and the OSCE.
The PMR President noted that he considers it extremely important to resume negotiations both in the "5+2" format and at the level of the top officials of Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Speaking about the meetings of political representatives, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized the importance, but insufficiency for decision-making. He recalled that the current negotiator from the Moldovan side Oleg Serebrian has not signed a single document within the negotiating agenda. Vadim Krasnoselsky is confident that one of the main reasons is concerns related to the so-called law on separatism in Moldova. The PMR President spoke about the importance of not only making decisions, but most importantly, implementing them in the legal field of each of the parties, without which it is impossible to talk about the real implementation of agreements.
According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, it is the lack of a full-fledged dialogue that is the root cause of various problems – political, economic, humanitarian – and does not provide an opportunity to solve them. The PMR President emphasized that Pridnestrovie is aimed at resuming negotiations and is open to effective discussion.
Fred Duijn noted in turn that the European Union also aims to maintain a productive dialogue. The ambassador said that he arrived in Tiraspol to receive information from the original source about the current situation, prospects for the development of events as well as the state of affairs in the energy sector.
