Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the German Ambassador Margret Uebber

Meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with the Ambassador of Germany to the Republic of Moldova Margret Uebber took place at the presidential executive office. This is her second and final visit to Pridnestrovie in this position. The corresponding mandate expires at the end of June. The diplomat noted that it was important for her to meet with the leadership of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic at the turn of her term in office to discuss the work done over five years and the current state of affairs.

Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that Germany actively participated in the work of the "Permanent Conference...", including by providing negotiating platforms. He recalled at the same time, that the activities of the "5 + 2" format have stagnated since 2019, when the Moldovan side deliberately disrupted the signing of the final documents. Vadim Krasnoselsky said in response to the guest's argument about the alleged impossibility of gathering participants in this format due to the complicated relations between Russia and Ukraine, the mediators of the Moldovan- Pridnestrovian negotiation process, that it was unfounded and did not reflect reality. The PMR President recalled the systematic interaction of diplomats and military officials of these two states together with representatives of Pridnestrovie, Moldova and the OSCE within the framework of the work of the JCC and the JMC, the institutions of the peacekeeping mission on the Dniester. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted at the same time that the position voiced by Margret Uebber generally reflects the pan-European one. The President spoke about the role of the OSCE in resolving the conflict, expressing gratitude for the desire to resolve it. This organization does not have sufficient powers and tools to solve specific problems, but is called upon to facilitate the resumption of negotiations and the full functioning of the "5 + 2" format, which is generally recognized and effective, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The German Ambassador noted in turn that the country she represents welcomes the fact that both sides – Pridnestrovie and Moldova – are focused on solving current issues and urgent problems exclusively at the negotiating table. It is important that the discussions do not cease, Margret Uebber emphasized. Vadim Krasnoselsky indicated the readiness of the Pridnestrovian side for any peace talks. It is important at the same time that this is not a dialogue for the sake of dialogue. Citizens need specific solutions to existing problems, the PMR President emphasized.
