Tiraspol, February 20. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The retreat from the tough confrontation between Russia and the United States will inevitably affect Pridnestrovie. First of all, this will be expressed in easing of pressure on the republic from European countries and Moldova. This opinion was expressed in an interview with the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel by the head of the Department of Political Science and Political Analysis of the Pridnestrovian State University Svetlana Osipova.
"Time and big politics will put everything in its place," she said. “I think that in connection with these events, the pressure from the West on Pridnestrovie will still decrease a little. We will feel the warming not so much from the Putin-Trump agreements, but from the reaction to these agreements from the leaders of European countries and our neighbor. All that is required of us is to preserve our state, strive to ensure that our state is stable and successful in its development, and then all these issues that are resolved at the level of big politics, sooner or later, like a domino effect, will reach Pridnestrovie."
Let us recall that in recent years, pressure on Pridnestrovie from Moldova in various spheres has increased significantly. Chisinau blocks foreign economic activity of Pridnestrovian enterprises, prevented supplies of medicines and medical equipment to the PMR, and imposed a banking blockade. The next item on the list of pressure measures was the energy crisis: in January, Moldova prevented supplies of natural gas to Pridnestrovie, which led to an almost complete shutdown of industrial enterprises, a sharp decrease in foreign trade turnover, the cessation of heat and gas supplies, and rolling blackouts.
