PMR FOREIGN MINISTER: THE DETERIORATION OF THE SITUATION WITH CARGO IMPORTATION IN PRIDNESTROVIE IS INADMISSIBLE

Vitaly Ignatiev thanked the OSCE for attracting an expert on the import of medicines to the dialogue of Tiraspol and Chisinau

Tiraspol, May, 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. During today's meeting with the OSCE delegation led by Franco Frattini, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev said that the situation with the import of goods in Pridnestrovie should not be further worsened.

Since 2017, there has been a joint customs and border control of Moldova and Ukraine at the Kuchurgan checkpoint. Tiraspol has repeatedly stressed the politicized nature of the joint control project that threatens Pridnestrovie’s foreign economic activity, freedom of movement and security.

One of the negative consequences was the problem of importing medicines in Pridnestrovie - the customs officers of the Republic of Moldova blocked relevant cargoes going to Pridnestrovie. The Pridnestrovian side spoke in favor of preserving the historical order of import of medical goods. This order, according to Tiraspol, should be reflected in the relevant agreement, which will allow uninterrupted supply of the PMR population with the necessary medicines.

In April of this year, an OSCE expert in the field of registration and import of medicines Michael Morris visited the Pridnestrovian region to study the problem. Today, Vitaly Ignatiev thanked the OSCE for bringing an expert to the dialogue between Tiraspol and Chisinau.
