Tiraspol, 28 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Until the end of February 2018, Moldova and Pridnestrovie intend to work out and sign an agreement on the mechanism for the participation of Pridnestrovian vehicles in international traffic.  The parties confirmed their readiness by signing a protocol that was adopted following a "Permanent Conference..." meeting in Vienna.

Th issue of Pridnestrovie-registered motor cars taking part in international traffic was one of the seven paragraphs of the Berlin Protocol signed in June 2016.

"All those paragraphs that we haven't fully implemented in the framework of the Berlin Protocol, were not only updated during today's meeting but also were given specific momentum and specific timelines. I think it is a big step forward. We hope that the issue of motor cars with Pridnestrovie-issued licence numbers participating in international traffic may be solved within the next two or three months," said Pridnestrovian foreign minister Vitaly Ignatyev following the "5+2" negotiations, which were held on 27-28 November in Vienna.

According to the diplomat, Pridnestrovie admits the possibility of using neutral-design driving licences and licence numbers in the interests of its citizens. At the same time, Pridnestrovians should be able to obtain them at the place of residence without going to Moldova.

"Besides, this mechanism should apply to all Pridnestrovian residents, without any discrimination on the basis of their citizenship. We insist it should include the citizens of both Pridnestrovie and Moldova and Russia and Ukraine and other countries who live in Pridnestrovie and are entitled to this mechanism. There are some difficulties in this part as it involves changes at the legislative level," explained Ignatyev.

The foreign minister noted that the chief negotiators of the parties "actually agreed it was important to solve the issue properly rather than set up an early deadline in order to 'report' it and have a rest."

"We seek to ensure that this mechanism will work in practice without creating any problems or difficulties for people, and to achieve this, we need to continue active and systemic work at all levels of the negotiating process," said Ignatyev.
