Tiraspol, 26 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The beginning of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester banks is a big holiday because it was through this operation that the bloodshed was halted and all necessary conditions were created for the development of the Pridnestrovian state and for a peaceful political dialogue with Moldova, said the Pridnestrovian foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, during an international conference, which is held in Tiraspol.
«25 years later, we are observing the processes that are developing around Pridnestrovie, peacekeeping operation, which clearly shows that those forces that are interested in unilateral coercive action … saw their purpose in dismantling, destroying the peacekeeping operation. Only the peacekeeping operation is a condition and an obstacle to the avoidance of bloodshed and conflict escalation on the Dniester bank," said Vitaly Ignatyev.
The fact that the Russian peacekeepers have actually saved the young republic from the Moldo-Romanian plans to destroy and absorb it, said the rector of Shevchenko State University, Stepan Beril
He underscored that for all these 25 years the Russian peacekeepers had been consciously and courageously guarding the peaceful work and life of Pridnestrovians, being guarantors of the secure and stable development of society, whereby this Russia-led operation is recognised by both politicians and international public opinion one of the most successful and exemplary operations.
«Therefore, all the plans and actions of the Moldovan authorities and their western rulers to end Russia's peacekeeping mission in the PMR, to transform it and replace with a civilian police mission are unfounded and unacceptable. This is particularly evident in the context of Moldova's attempts to toughen its rhetoric, to disrupt the peacekeeping process and negotiating format, to impose an economic, customs and transport blockade," said Beril.
The rector noted that Pridnestrovians stood against armed provocations, waging wars and conflicts, but, if necessary, they were ready to defend their land, as was already the case in 1992.
«And the Russian peacekeepers will not stand by and fulfil their peacekeeping duties, as it happened in South Ossetia in 2008," underscored Beril.
