Tiraspol, 5 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. If Odems receives Russian loans, it intends to seriously update its equipment. The company is also among those which have submitted their investment project to the government.
As the first deputy director of Odema JSC, Vladimir Yurash, noted in an interview, «it is life itself that has made us request loans» as the company's equipment is 25 and even 30 years old.
In addition to obsolescence, the old age of sewing machines has an applied negative effect — even experienced seamstresses cannot set the necessary speed, which leads to a direct decrease in productivity.
Russian loans, if any, will be used to buy 36 sewing and 10 bar-tacking machines, all of which are cutting-edge and meet all technical requirements. As a result, this will increase productivity by at least 10%, and a full-fledged sewing team will be equipped with the new machinery. In addition, the factory will be able to recruit more seamstresses, increasing their total number nearly twofold to 400 persons. Not to mention the quality of products.
«Market demands are very tight today on two parameters — quality and quantity. Our productivity is not up to standard because of breakages of old equipment leading to downtime. We have requested money to update equipment and increase jobs," said Yurash.
The three-year investment project will help the factory increase productivity by $160,000 a year and produce up to 200,000 items of various garments.
But most importantly, according to Yurash, this will help Odema to increase the share of its own products.
«Of course, we are more interested in manufacturing our own products. The tolling scheme is a bit burdensome and damaging in terms of production as client companies try to pay less for their profits, and our enterprise has to live on crumbs. This does not allow for a full technical re-equipment of the enterprise," he concluded.
