Tiraspol, May 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Special representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Cord Meier-Klodt made a working visit to Pridnestrovie. During the meeting in the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry, current situation in the dialogue between the sides of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement, and also possible resumption of work of the 5+2 format was discussed with the MFA Vitaly Ignatyev.
Journalists were told at the briefing that the round of negotiations in this format (Pridnestrovie and Moldova — sides; Russia, Ukraine — guarantors and intermediaries, OSCE — an intermediary, the EU and the USA — observers) can be held in Berlin at the beginning of June. According to the meeting participants, the agenda should be given concrete substance during the time left.
«We don't want to have meetings for the sake of mere meetings, but to take concrete steps for the good of the population at the both banks of the Dniester. Today we've held a meeting with Vitaly Ignatyev to determine the concrete offers which we can submit for the agenda. I have to note that the international partners, in particular the Russian Federation, have made concrete proposals, and basing on them we will be able to form the agenda," Cord Meier-Klodt noted in this regard.
The Acting Foreign Minister of Pridnestrovie Vitaly Ignatyev noted in turn: «In the meantime, we are working on giving the concrete substance to the possible agenda of the upcoming meeting. Each meeting of a separate expert (workers) group is an important element because it gives substantive character to our work. First of all, a possibility of the meeting in the 5+2 format will depend on it «.
Among questions which the Pridnestrovie's side would like to include in the agenda, Vitaly Ignatyev specified three ones. These offers, according to him, were made by the Russian side in «non paper» form (verbally) during the visit of representatives of mediators and observers in negotiation process to Chisinau and Tiraspol in April of this year.
«It concerns guarantees of the agreements reached in negotiation process. They must be implemented. You know that we have signed rather wide range of documents which for whatever reason aren't implemented by our Moldavian partners. It also concerns a problem of politically motivated criminal cases initiated in Moldova against the Pridnestrovian officials," the Acting Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister told in interview to journalists.
As for the efforts made by the German OSCE Chairman-in-Office on solution of the politically motivated criminal cases problem, Meier-Klodt noted that the issue had been on the negotiating table for a long time and had been far from arrangement. According to the diplomat, it is necessary «to create positive momentum in those issues now where it is easier to reach an agreement and to boost solution of other issues on its basis».
