De facto, any provocation against the Russian peacekeepers is an official declaration of war to the Russian Federation "with all that it implies for that madman who would risk doing it". So, the Russian journalist, the military expert and the editor-in-chief of the National Defense Magazine Igor Korotchenko commented in his interview to Novosti Pridnestrovya on the latest statements of the Ukranian president Petro Poroshenko.
It's important to remind that, on December 9 Petro Poroshenko discussed the pullout of Russian troops from Pridnestrovie with a new appointed ambassador of Moldova in Ukraine. Besides, at the end of the last week, addressing the military personnel, the president of Ukraine declared that Ukraine concentrated troops on the Pridnestrovian-Ukranian border.
"Both Kishinev and Kiev may talk about anything. The possibility of pullout of the Russian troops from Pridnestrovie they are talking about is the same, as if Moldova and Ukraine launched astronauts to the Moon. It is imaginations of certain actors. The reality is that the Russian peacekeepers have always stayed and will continue staying in Pridnestrovie. It is the only factor of stability, predictability of the situation in the region, and, certainly, it is an element of peace and safety. That's why there will be no changes in Russian policy in this context. We have a mandate, and we are carrying out the corresponding peacekeeping functions according to it there," Igor Korotchenko emphasized.
The Russian military expert noted that any provocation against the Russian peacekeepers is an official declaration of war to the Russian Federation with all that it implies "for that madman who would risk doing it". And if Poroshenko suddenly organises an armed provocation against the Russian peacekeepers, his fate will be even more sad as compared to Saakashvili in 2008. That's why they mustn't joke".
"Whatever maneuvers Poroshenko may organize, it is important to understand that it is a political loser, it is a leader of the country being at the stage of its historic decay. Also, the attitude is changing towards Poroshenko. While Biden arrives to Kiev, for example, to solve his personal business affairs, using his status of the Vice President of the United States, Obama, in his turn, refuses to notice Poroshenko and to shake his hand at the Climate Summit in Paris. It speaks volumes".
The expert highlights that Pridnestrovie is a part of the global Russian World. "It is the Russian land spilled with blood of our heroic ancestors. We take Pridnestrovie as a part of ourselves. Yes, due to certain historic mistakes, Pridnestrovie has a status of the unrecognized state today. But represented by Russia, Pridnestrovie's has 100% support. No one can break ties between us," the editor-in-chief of the National Defense Magazine Igor Korotchenko concluded.
