President and EU delegation discuss Moldo-Ukrainian customs and border post on PMR border

Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the need for an early resolution of the long-standing problems in Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relations

Tiraspol, 27 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky received a delegation of European diplomats — Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia in the European External Action Service Thomas Mayer-Harting and EU Ambassador to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola.

The sides discussed the need for an early resolution of the long-standing problems in Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relations, as well as the inadmissibility of establishing Moldovan-Ukrainian joint customs and border control on the border with Pridnestrovie, the presidential press service reported.

«I don't know how well you are informed about the consequences of establishing these posts. I'd like to take this opportunity to discuss all the risks for Pridnestrovie this step will entail," said the president.

Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed the importance of drawing the attention of all negotiation participants to this problem.

«Any dialogue must be conducted on the basis of the negotiation process in any format. We particularly welcome the '5+2' format because it represents all the sides. Pridnestrovie, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, OSCE, observers from the European Union and the United States. This is the platform where each side can express its opinion. It is very bad when a side makes a decision on the inadmissibility of considering one issue or another on this platform. It is about the customs and border posts which Moldova is planning to deploy in Ukraine," underscored Vadim Krasnoselsky, speaking to the EU guests.
