The Moldovan authorities deported the chairman of the Tiraspol city court, Anna Mamei

This actions by Moldova have nothing to do with democracy, European principles and lead to an escalation of tension, the PMR Foreign Ministry said

Tiraspol, January 23. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. On January 22, returning home to Pridnestrovie, a citizen of the PMR, the chairman of the Tiraspol city court, Anna Mamei, was deported by the security forces of the Republic of Moldova.

In this regard, the PMR Foreign Ministry published a statement on its official website:

“We consider Moldova’s actions as a gross violation of universal rights and freedoms, including the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, as well as the obligations assumed by the Moldovan side in the international negotiation process, contained, in particular, in the Protocol decision on certain aspects of freedom of movement of February 27, 2014.

The recent increase in the number of restrictions on the freedom of movement of citizens of Pridnestrovie has specific political motives, accompanied by threats against officials of Pridnestrovie, and confirms the use of repressive legislation and practice by Moldova in order to exert administrative, moral, psychological and political pressure on people. We emphasize that earlier the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights officially indicated a negative critical assessment of the amendments adopted in the Republic of Moldova on the criminalization of the so-called. “separatism”, but the Moldovan leadership simply ignored the opinion of the relevant international organization.

Such actions by Moldova have nothing to do with democracy or European principles and lead to an escalation of tension, fraught with obvious negative consequences.

We consider another fact of gross violation of the rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovian citizens as a reason for the active participation of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office, as well as all international representatives in the “5+2” negotiating format with the aim of quickly normalizing the situation and suppressing the unlawful actions of Chisinau.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue political and diplomatic actions to protect the legal rights of citizens of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and counts on the substantive reaction and assistance of mediators and observers in the international negotiation process.”

Let us remind you that a similar incident occurred on December 19, 2023. Pridnestrovian citizen Alexander Navarich was stopped at the Chisinau airport when he returned with his family from abroad. Under a formal pretext, the man was not allowed into the territory of Moldova, allegedly he could not explain the purpose of his visit to the Republic of Moldova.

The issue was raised on January 16 at a meeting of political representatives of the PMR and the RM by the head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry Vitaly Ignatiev. The Foreign Minister called this incident beyond common sense and cynicism of the highest level. At the same time, he noted that Moldova has not yet given clear explanations for the current situation.
