Tiraspol, January 5. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The new customs duties that Moldova has imposed on Pridnestrovian enterprises and entrepreneurs since this year will have a negative impact on the entire population of Pridnestrovie, including citizens of the Republic of Moldova living in the republic.
The President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky stated this today. He addressed Moldovan officials in connection with the emergence of a new instrument of economic pressure on Pridnestrovie.
The head of the Pridnestrovian state called on the Moldovan authorities to “think again, get off the path of aggression and take the path of normal peaceful political negotiations.”
“Reading the Moldavian media, I observed this nuance: the right political wing is announcing a certain victory. What kind of victory are you talking about? You don't know what you are really doing. This is not a strong step, but a weak step. You are weak leaders. You simply do not understand the consequences that may follow your actions. A conversation, a dialogue is manifestation of power. And what you have done is a path to nowhere, a path to the void,” the President of the PMR said.
He drew attention to the fact that the EU itself granted the right to conduct foreign economic activity with the European Union through the program of a deep and comprehensive free trade zone for Pridnestrovie. But Moldova, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, did everything to “put a spoke in the wheels of this decision.”
“It is you who do not open bank accounts for our enterprises that are registered in Moldova. It is you who will paralyze the banking system. Moreover, when we ask you to give an algorithm, a formula, there is zero reaction. While all the refusals are not even written, but verbal, with reference to some higher authorities: you should negotiate there, and we will then register your enterprise. This is a bluff, a deception. It is you who violate all European values: human rights, rights to business and entrepreneurial activity,” the head of the Pridnestrovian state noted, addressing the leadership of Moldova.
“I want to remind you that taxes [from business activities] form the local budget, while the local budget pays for all social obligations. And in 33 years, already in its fourth decade, there are no other formulas and there will not be any here in Pridnestrovie,” Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.
He also drew attention to serious violations of human rights in Moldova itself - in relation to Gagauzia, as well as in recent local elections, when candidates were withdrawn from the election race without trial, by a decision of the Government commission for emergency situations. “These are not European values,” the President of the PMR said.
According to him, the new measures of economic pressure from Chisinau came as a certain surprise for the republic, but not a shock, because “the entire history of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova is full of such events and situations.”
Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled the treacherous attack on Bendery in 1992 (after the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted a declaration on an exclusively peaceful solution to the Pridnestrovian issue).
“Even the most naive person understands perfectly well that it is impossible to mobilize troops in half a day. That is, the Parliament, when making its decision, was aware of the armed attack on Pridnestrovie. Then people died - not only the defenders of Pridnestrovie, but women, children, and old people. And who took the fall for that? Who was responsible? Who at least apologized for the murder of civilians on the territory of Pridnestrovie, regardless of their citizenship and so on? No one did,” Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.
He also recalled the repeated failures of the negotiation process on the part of Moldova, as well as Chisinau’s failure to fulfill already signed agreements, including in the 5 + 2 format. According to the President of the PMR, it was the authorities of the Republic of Moldova who ultimately destroyed this format.
“It wasn’t the [COVID-19] pandemic or warfare in Ukraine that did this. This was in 2019, when your political representatives walked away from the negotiating table in Bratislava and did not sign the final document. And someone was behind this, someone gave commands to destroy the 5 + 2 format,” Vadim Krasnoselsky said.
According to him, this format exists to discuss the life and everyday problems of people living on the banks of the Dniester.
“People are suffering. I want to remind politicians of one important point. Politicians don`t come to power for PR, for slogans, they come for specific actions and deeds, for the people living in a particular territory. It’s only to this end that the people vote for you,” the head of the Pridnestrovian state summed up.
