Moldova is on the lookout for “conspirators” and “separatists”

Amendments are being made to the RM’s Criminal Code that may pose a threat to Pridnestrovian as well as Gagauzian residents

Eight new articles may be introduced into the RM’s Criminal Procedure Code, including “Conspiracy against Moldova” as well as “Separatism”. According to the Moldovan mass media, the relevant draft law, proposed by deputies from the governing PAS party, has already been supported by the Moldovan government members and approved by the Moldovan parliament’s legal commission.
The “Conspiracy against Moldova” article implies sentences ranging from 2 to 7 years imprisonment, and for “separatism” you can receive from 2 to 12 years in prison. Moreover, an additional fee of 35 to 750 thousand lei is charged.
It’s planned to introduce such concepts as “anti-constitutional subject”, “self-proclaimed authorities”, as well as “an illegal information structure” into the RM’s Criminal Procedure Code. For such a structure’s establishment, imprisonment for a period from 7 to 10 years is provided.
Additionally, the amendments provide for 2 to 5 years imprisonment or a fee of 42.5 to 67.5 thousand lei for a “gathering or information embezzlement that could harm the sovereignty, independence and the territorial integrity of Moldova.”
