Pridnestrovie has become hostage to Moldova`s unscrupulous approaches

Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev spoke about the threat of a humanitarian catastrophe

Tiraspol, November 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Moldova puts pressure on the almost half-million population of Pridnestrovie through gas blackmail. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev in an interview with the Russian TV channel Russia-24.

The head of the Foreign Ministry recalled that, in violation of the contract, the Moldovan side began the selection of gas that Gazprom supplies to Pridnestrovie. As a result, the republic had to go into austerity, industrial enterprises stopped, while consumers also have difficulties, for example, with the supply of hot water.

“We have become hostages of the Moldovan side`s unscrupulous approaches,” Vitaly Ignatiev described the situation. - On the eve of winter, this situation requires active international intervention. We called on the United Nations and other structures, including the OSCE, to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, for this it is necessary to return the Moldovan side to making normal constructive decisions, so that they would rather sit down at the negotiating table with Russian gas suppliers and remove all these negative factors.”

Recall that at the end of October, Moldovagaz reduced the gas supply to the PMR, placing the released volume in the gas storages of Ukraine. As a result, Pridnestrovie was forced to introduce a state of emergency in the economy and take measures to save energy. In particular, a number of energy-intensive industries were stopped, a number of enterprises were transferred to work on a night shift or with a reduced working day, the supply of hot water and the movement of public electric transport were limited. The authorities of Pridnestrovie have turned to the international organizations of the UN and the OSCE with an appeal to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Pridnestrovie.
