Tiraspol, July 4. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The supply of arms to Moldova and re-equipment of its army following the NATO model are of great concern in Pridnestrovie. In an interview with a state television channel, Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev called these processes very dangerous, especially against the backdrop of events in neighboring Ukraine.
“As for militarization, it is very dangerous, because there are several points that we are talking about with our Western partners. Firstly, why engage in arming Moldova, is it being threatened by someone? They say: no, no one threatens it. Well, okay, if no one threatens it, then by arming Moldova, you are creating some kind of regional instability,” the Minister said.
Moldova does not even hide its intentions to militarize. Several NATO centers are operating in the country openly, the strategic plan "Moldova-NATO" has been operating, and training centers for security forces are functioning since 2006. While military advisers from the United States and NATO countries are present in all government bodies, and primarily in the Ministry of Defense.
“Moldova has an unresolved conflict with Pridnestrovie. We perceive the strengthening of the Moldovan army as a threat to ourselves,” the Head of the PMR Foreign Ministry stressed.
Recall that Moldova will receive 40 million euros from the European Defense Fund. Now official Chisinau is negotiating with Western countries on the supply of lethal arms to the country.
