Tiraspol, May 20. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At the scene of crime, the investigation criminal unit collected materials, which led to the conclusion that there was a serious incident in the Security Zone.
“We can clearly say now that this incident took place. And this is a rather serious one, since the car of the PMR law enforcement officers was damaged. We really see that the firing was not fictitious, but real. And in this part there was an imminent threat to life and health,” the Head of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov said.
On May 2, at about 5 pm, three men got out of a Mercedes vehicle. One of them had a gun equipped with an optical sight with him. This man fired three shots in the direction of the car of the Pridnestrovian Border Guard officer, who was at some distance off the roadway outside the bridge. Also, an armed man fired a shot upon a traffic control sign near the stairway, trying to intimidate the Border Guard officer who started climbing the stairway in order to get closer to the shooter. Then the armed group of persons quickly got into their vehicle and left in the direction of the Republic of Moldova, the Pridnestrovian delegation to the JCC said in a statement.
“What are the goals pursued by those people who acted this way? Aggravate the situation, escalate the situation? Create some specific conditions for the impossibility of performing their official duties? This remains to be seen. But the inciden, which we considered at the JCC today, is quite serious. We focused on it today within the framework of the meeting and insist that this information be fully studied so that such events do not occur in the future,” Oleg Belyakov commented.
According to him, the Pridnestrovian delegation insists that this incident be the JCC object of study. It is necessary to make appropriate decisions to localize the possible danger, Belyakov summed up.
