The Pridnestrovian delegation opposes the PMR territory aerial mapping

Tiraspol representatives in Joint Control Commission distributed a response to the Moldovan side notification

Bendery, April 01. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The JCC regular meeting was held. The Moldovan delegation representatives asked to suspend the authority work for one week, because of the situation with the coronavirus infection.

Relevant issues of peacekeeping were discussed by the Pridnestrovian and Russian sides. Particularly, the military command brought the information on the situation in the Security Zone, as well as on the ongoing military contingents rotation.

The JCC members received a response from the Pridnestrovian delegation to the RM representatives’ notification about plans of conducting an aerial mapping, including in the Security Zone.

According to the JCC co-chairman from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov, “the aircraft operations implementation for the purpose of the Republic of Moldova territory aerial mapping outside the Security Zone isn’t considered by the Pridnestrovian delegation to the JCC as a matter within the Joint Control Commission competence. This information was repeatedly brought to the attention of the participants in the JCC work.”

Moreover, Oleg Belyakov stressed that the Pridnestrovian side is categorically opposed the using of the PMR airspace in the Security Zone by any aircrafts for the aerial mapping purpose, “because such work can be regarded as a double-purpose activity.”
