Solar water heaters, wine pumps, barbecues with Soviet symbols and dinners in the factory dining room

Tour operators were shown the Elektromash plant so that they knew why it might be interesting for tourists

Tiraspol, March 26. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, an excursion was conducted for Pridnestrovian travel companies and operators at the Elektromash plant. Organizer is Tourism Agency. The goal is to show what else Pridnestrovie is interesting for, in addition to beautiful landscapes and Soviet monuments.

The mini-journey into the world of production began from the rooftop. Here is what the factory workers like to boast about. These are wind driver generator and solar water heaters. The first is a 1000W device. It was designed and manufactured at the factory.

“A permanent magnet generator is used here, the Ugrinsky turbine is used as a drive as the most efficient for low winds. The generated energy is accumulated in batteries and then used at night to illuminate the territory. This is a pilot plant, we will work out all the nuances on it and only then we will make decisions whether it is worth producing for sale. Actually, it is better to make them with high power and use them where there are constant and high winds,” the lead designer of the special design bureau Evgeny Nani said.

Slightly below, there are solar water heaters. 20 units form a straight line. Each one provides 150 liters of hot water per day. In total, 3 tons are obtained - this water goes to factory showers, and it is also used for domestic and industrial needs.

“During the day, the water is heated by the sun, and at night it does not cool down, as the tank has built-in thermal insulation around the perimeter. Depending on the brightness of the sun, it is possible to heat the water up to 70 °C, while a special coating absorbs up to 99% of the sunlight. Due to the fact that our boilers for water heating are practically turned off in cold weather, while solar heaters are working, the payback period for these installations is 1.5 years. Then the resource-saving process begins. There is full automation here,” Maxim Medushevsky, Director of the special design bureau of RP ZAO Elektromash says.

The next location is a workshop for the production of small electrical machines. This is where small pumps, machine tools and consumer goods come from. For example, they collect UBDNs - woodworking machines. It all starts with a drum, an engine; they are already in the package at the end of the process. Nearby is the first batch of new pumps. They are designed for pumping wine in a subsidiary farm; they are red, like the wine. They are not on sale yet, they will only be available since April.

In this workshop, production is largely based on the needs of the domestic consumer. A lot of products are made for farmers: you can buy a unit both for a farm and for individual household plots.

“We work for our consumer: Pridnestrovie, Moldova, Ukraine. We make woodworking machines, household pumps of 5 types, corn pullers (separates grain from the cobs), small grain shredding machine, barbecues, smoke houses. Everything for domestic use in a personal household or on a farm,” the Workshop Manager, Lyudmila Komerzan said.

But that is not all. They make dumbbells of different weights, barbells and, of course, "weights" for them

What else is being produced at Elektromash was shown to travel agents in the museum (opened in 2018), as well as in the factory's brand store. Here anyone can get acquainted with the full range of goods (of course, there are no those that are designed for the wider consumer groups, large electric motors) and buy them.

The cooling tower (it cools the water for the production process) and the bird's dorm were not ignored. The workers of the plant made these birdhouses themselves, while the children added bright colors. The birdhouses were only pitched a couple of days ago, so for now they are just waiting for their tenants.

The dining room was the terminus of the tour. Soon there will be many posters, propaganda materials and other attributes of the Soviet era. It will be possible to bring tourists here to have lunch, as in the USSR.

Today's excursion is only a part of a large-scale project of the Tourism Agency. The company has been organizing information tours for those who work with local and foreign tourists since last autumn.

“Our task is to establish cooperation between travel agencies and enterprises so that they can then work directly, without us. When we go through production, each participant understands what needs to be completed to make it interesting for tourists - the route itself or some details. Why industrial? Because most often it is at the enterprises, due to their closed nature, that bureaucratic obstacles arise, and it is difficult for the travel agency itself to overcome it. We resolve all issues, including discussion with the management of how they can continue to cooperate," Igor Krizhanovsky, Head of the Department for Target Programs and Priority Projects Implementation of the PMR Tourism Agency said.

The agencies have already been shown the Bouquet of Moldavia, Dubossary HPP, Intercenter Lux, Moldavian Metallurgical Plant, and also arranged a trolleybus tour of Bendery. Many businesses are ready to open up to tourists, yet the pandemic is making adjustments. Due to the quarantine, some do not want to let outsiders inside yet.

However, there are very few tourists themselves. Everyone is waiting for the opening of borders to show guests all the diversity of our region, including the industrial potential.

“I hope that after the end of the pandemic we will be able to develop this direction, since industrial tourism is in great demand. We have requests for this. Some people are interested in this from an investment point of view: they will look at the capacities, the current stage of the enterprise's development, draw analogies with history. Of course, the museum will be of interest, especially during the Soviet period. Manufacturing can be interesting too, including buying products for personal use. I think it will be in demand. Elektromash can be safely included in certain routes, especially if a person comes not for one, but for at least several days," Maria Khoroshunova, representative of one of the travel agencies said.

In addition to industrial, the Agency wants to show tour operators the potential of agricultural and ethnic tourism.
