Tiraspol, December 8. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev reminded the interlocutors about the events and consequences of Moldova’s armed aggression against Pridnestrovie in the 1990s in the Open Air program of the Russian TV channel of Zvezda.

“Moldova hasn’t yet given a political and legal evaluation of the actions in the war, that it unleashed in the 1990s. After all, the first shots were ranged out in 1990, people were perishing, the war ended in 1992, but it wasn’t immediately. Unfortunately, there is still no political or legal evaluation. Only a public independent international tribunal in Moscow in 1993 gave an assessment of these atrocities, these elements of genocide, that took place in our country,” he noted.

The armed aggression of Moldova against Pridnestrovie began on March 2, 1992. However, the attacks by the Moldovan police and armed forces began even earlier. The first bloodshed took place on November 2, 1990 in Dubossary: the security forces of the Republic of Moldova opened fire on unarmed residents. The military engagements reached its peak in the summer of 1992, when the RM authorities invaded with armored vehicles to the Bendery town. The bloodshed was stopped by Russia, through its mediation peace negotiations began. The definitively armed provocations of Moldova ended with the introduction of Russian peacekeepers on July 29, 1992. During the hostilities, 809 people were killed, most of whom were civilians.
