Exporters' business activity increased in October

Sales of electricity and ferrous metallurgy products rose

Tiraspol, November 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. For 10 months of this year, exports and imports have shown a drop compared to the same indicators of 2019. As analysts of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank note, in January-October this year, the export of goods amounted to 511.4 million dollars. This is 6.1% less than in the same period last year. Imports decreased by 14.3% and formed at around 853.4 million dollars. Thus, the balance of foreign trade operations decreased by 24.3%, to 342.0 million dollars.

If we only talk about October, it brought a recovery in exporters` business activity. Moreover, this growth has seriously accelerated: the volume of exports at the end of the month reached 64.5 million dollars. This is the maximum figure since March 2018. Compared to September, it increased by 17.8% and from October last year - by 8.4%.

In January-October of this year, electricity supplies totaled 135.1 million dollars. Compared to the baseline, they increased by 9.4%. According to the State Customs Committee, imports of fuel and energy products fell by 27.8% to 295.9 million dollars.

Sales of metals and metal products to foreign partners amounted to 181.5 million dollars, which is 2.4% more than in the same period of the previous year. At the same time, purchases of goods of this group abroad decreased by 3.5%, to 140.6 million dollars.

During this period, food products and raw materials were sold abroad for 74 million dollars (minus 30.6%). This is largely due to the low yield of grain and oilseeds. But the import of such goods, on the contrary, increased by 0.9% (to 112.4 million dollars).

Light industry goods` sale to foreign partners in January-October was at the level of 51.9 million dollars (-6.9%), while their imports dropped by 29.7% (to 31.2 million dollars).

Exports of cement, sand and gravel abroad decreased by 3.6% (to 22.8 million dollars), imports - by 8.6% (to 5.8 million dollars).

The machine-building industry as a whole has also shown a decline over 10 months. Exports fell by 27% (to 20.7 million dollars), imports - by 9.3% (to 108.4 million dollars).

Chemical industry products were sold abroad for 9.4 million dollars (-6.3%), bought for 71.5 million dollars (-2.5%).
