Tiraspol, July 24 ./Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A conversation between the PMR leadership and OSCE representatives was organized via video-conference. It was attended by the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting and the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch.
First, the interlocutors discussed the coronavirus situation in the world. It was noted that Pridnestrovie successfully copes with this international test – the spread of the disease and mortality among COVID-19 carriers in the republic is low, treatment is effective (the proportion of recovered exceeds 84% of the number of cases).
According to the press service of the President, the main topic of the working discussion was the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. They talked about the need to intensify it.
Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that it is important for him and for the entire Pridnestrovian people that the agreements that they manage to achieve are implemented and become the norm of citizens' life, and not remain words on paper.
Thomas Mayr-Harting, in turn, noted that Europeans closely monitor the progress of the negotiations and take part in them as much as possible. The Austrian diplomat stressed that he welcomes the desire of the leadership of Pridnestrovie and Moldova to continue the dialogue at the highest level and, together with his colleagues, will wait for the results of the upcoming meeting of Vadim Krasnoselsky and Igor Dodon.
The Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office said that European observers have a number of proposals for filling and implementing the negotiating agenda. Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed that he would study all the initiatives with interest and attention.
The participants of the video-conference discussed in detail a wide range of issues related to the work of the 5 + 2 format.
