Tiraspol, July 10. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In relation to the numerous proposals sent by Pridnestrovie earlier, today there was held a meeting of expert (working) groups on the development of transport and road facilities. As reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR, it was held in a form of a video conference.
As the main problem, representatives of Pridnestrovie drew the Moldovan delegation`s attention, as well as representatives of mediators and observers to restrictions on crossing the state border of Moldova with Romania using Pridnestrovian-type driver’s licenses. Reference was made to the need to find a sustainable solution, taking into account a number of Pridnestrovie's initiatives which were formally presented previously, as well as publicly indicated opinion of international partners.
The parties discussed in detail the work of vehicle registration offices in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa, which does not meet the interests of all citizens of Pridnestrovie and the content of the agreements reached on the participation of Pridnestrovian vehicles in international traffic. In particular, the Pridnestrovian delegation demanded the removal of unreasonable and discriminatory restrictions on access to car registration in the vehicle registration offices for citizens of Russia and Ukraine who brought their own vehicles in Pridnestrovie after signing the Protocol Decision of April 24, 2018.
Along with this, the representatives of Pridnestrovie suggested that the Republic of Moldova review the unregulated by the Protocol decision and unilaterally introduced restrictions on the registration of vehicles which age is more than 10 years (that were brought after April 24, 2018) in the vehicle registration offices.
Special attention was paid to the topic of vehicles registration in vehicle registration offices belonging to Pridnestrovian companies engaged in international passenger traffic. The Pridnestrovian side called on Moldovan experts to fulfill the obligations stipulated by the relevant provision of the Protocol Decision. At the same time, Tiraspol warned that further delays could become the basis for streamlining transit routes carried out by Moldovan companies through the territory of the PMR. Pridnestrovie requested a substantive review of the draft agreement in this area that has been submitted to the Republic of Moldova in October 2019.
There were also discussed issues related to drivers` automobile liability insurance, registration of trailers in vehicle registration offices, optimization of queue administration order in vehicle registration offices.
