Tiraspol, May 26. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The political representative of Moldova, Kristina Lesnik, has actually excused herself from helping to solve people`s problems that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry noted that repeated appeals by the PMR Foreign Ministry to assist in bringing nationals home had been ignored. At the same time, Chisinau is getting in the way of Tiraspol organizing transport for people who find themselves in a difficult situation abroad. The office of the Moldovan political representative said that only state bodies of Moldova could negotiate with foreign authorities on the international transport organization.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie were greatly perplexed by this, as the PMR MFA works directly with Foreign Ministries, diplomatic and consular missions of foreign states, including neighboring Moldova.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie traditionally uses whatever functional tools for bringing nationals home, including direct operational interaction with Foreign Ministries, diplomatic and consular missions of foreign states, neighboring Moldova among them. It is important to note that in the vast majority, these structures showed adequacy, understanding of the humanitarian nature and the degree of urgency of the questions addressed to them,” the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry commented.
According to the Foreign Ministry, “Kristina Lesnik office`s emotionally negative reaction can report signals of Chisinau’s irritation because of successful resolution of hundreds of problematic logistic situations in which Pridnestrovian citizens found themselves abroad.”
“The reasons for the discontent of the Republic of Moldova lie in the fact that repeated appeals to the Moldovan political representative on the substance of the matter were ignored. The Moldovan side has actually excused itself from providing assistance in many critical situations directly related to ensuring the inalienable rights and interests of people,” the commentary says.
The PMR Foreign Ministry recalls that “people's interests are the basis of the international negotiation process and cannot be conditional on the politically engaged approach.”
Tiraspol stated that the Foreign Ministry would continue to make every effort to protect the rights and interests of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic citizens, including in extreme circumstances of a pandemic.
“We urge the Moldovan side to reverse their close-minded position, stop politicizing obvious humanitarian issues and return to responsible substantive work in the negotiation process,” the PMR Foreign Ministry summarizes.
