Head of the MFA of the PMR: Pridnestrovie will not allow provocations in the Security Zone

Pridnestrovie also hopes that international partners will not allow Chisinau to break the negotiating mechanism

Tiraspol, February 18./Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Earlier Moldova has called to eliminate peacekeeping posts in the area of the bridge on Vadul lui Vodă. Now threats and forthcoming provocations have become a part of Chisinau's actions general logic, this opinion was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev on the air of the TSV TV Channel.

According to him, threats at the level of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) are the result of the obvious bi u degradation of relations between Tiraspol and Chisinau. ''The negotiation process agreements are not fulfilled, earlier commitments are ignored. Chisinau is moving away from the previous agreements and does not sign the new ones. Actually, results of the work of the expert (working) groups are zero,'' the Head of the Foreign Ministry of the PMR marked.

Speaking about the allegedly negative attitude to the peacekeeping posts (two posts No.9) of a number of Moldovan residents, Vitaly Ignatiev noted that the Pridnestrovian side has very different information on the basis of constant monitoring of the situation by military observers of the JCC. ''The attitude is absolutely adequate and positive. People are grateful to the peacekeepers, they are calm and they have no questions about the posts,'' the Minister stressed.

Pridnestrovie will use all necessary mechanisms in the negotiation process to prevent provocations in the Security Zone. ''Now the situation is completely controlled. We also expect that the international partners will not allow Chisinau to break the negotiating mechanism,'' Vitaly Ignatiev noted.

Last week, the JCC reported about possible provocations at the Joint Peacekeeping Force posts. Representatives of Moldova stated that the presence of peacekeepers allegedly ''causes indignation among the residents of the villages Cosnita, Parata, Dorotcaia and Pohrebea'' (territories of the PMR occupied by Moldova). The Co-Chair from the RM said that if the peacekeeping posts were not removed, the peacekeepers «would be lifted to the villas.»

The response statement of the Pridnestrovian JCC Delegation says, that according to the polls, ''residents of both banks of the Dniester respect the existing format of peacekeeping,'' so the so-called ''popular unrest'' is possible only as a planned provocations of the Moldovan authorities.

The Co-Chairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov proposed to discuss the return of the initial number of Russian peacekeepers from the current 402 soldiers to 2.4 thousand, as it was at the beginning of the peacekeeping operation. It was clearly recorded by all parties in the JCC basic documents. Belyakov also considers it is necessary to resume the activities of the helicopter squadron. It has not been used in the Security Zone since 2004.
