Vadim Krasnoselsky discussed with Vitaly Ignatiev the situation in the negotiation process. The main issue of the workshop is the development of the situation with the introduction of restrictive measures by Moldova regarding Pridnestrovian vehicles. The PMR Foreign Minister confirmed the fulfillment of the President’s order to send through diplomatic channels to all participants in the “5 + 2” format information about if necessary, mirror measures of Pridnestrovie with specific dates.
Moldova responded to the statement by announcing a review of its position. After a telephone conversation between the leaders of the two republics, the Moldovan Government released a message on the suspension of the restrictions. The PMR Foreign Minister informed the President that the relevant departments keep the situation under control. Practice shows that at the moment, Pridnestrovian motorists freely cross the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. At the same time, Vitaly Ignatiev focused on the fact that the restrictions of Moldova were not removed, but suspended. In this regard, Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed to carry out constant monitoring of the situation and, in case of violation by the Moldovan side of the stated obligations, immediately respond.
Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that against the backdrop of problems caused by attempts to introduce Moldova’s restrictions on the movement of Pridnestrovian vehicles, all other urgent issues on the negotiation agenda should not fade into the background. Attention to them should not diminish, the PMR President aimed. He called on the PMR Foreign Minister to keep under control the issues related to the closure of Moldova's bank accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises, implementation of the telecommunications agreement, and termination of all politically motivated criminal cases against Pridnestrovian officials. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises are still blocked, the list of criminal cases alleged to be terminated by the Moldovan side has not been submitted. The second year does not resolve the issue in the field of telecommunications. The Moldavian side promised to solve this problem no later than March 1: Igor Dodon personally set the deadline, Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled.
The interlocutors spoke about the statement of the Moldovan vice prime minister about the likelihood of Ukraine introducing some restrictive measures on Pridnestrovian vehicles from April 1. However, this information has not received official confirmation from Ukraine. Vitaly Ignatiev informed about the comprehensive work being carried out through the diplomatic line to prevent the development of a negative situation. According to the minister, events are planned in the near future as part of contacts with Ukrainian diplomats. Discussion of this issue is expected during the upcoming visit of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
Vadim Krasnoselsky, for his part, noted that Mr. Chicu is an official of Moldova and, obviously, is not authorized to make decisions and make statements on behalf of the leadership of Ukraine. The PMR President considers it necessary to draw the attention of all participants of the “Permanent Conference ...” format to what is happening. Vitaly Ignatiev was instructed to turn to them for an assessment of this fact. Work in this area will be continued.
