Tiraspol, December 14. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The first IT conference for high school students was held at the Palace of the Republic. The organizers were the Association of IT companies, the Agency for Investment and Development, as well as the BIT Fund for the Development of Information Technologies in Pridnestrovie.
The conference was attended by 800 participants from all over Pridnestrovie, as well as from Gagauzia and Moldova. Among them there were schoolchildren, their parents and teachers. According to the organizers, the main task of the conference is to popularize the IT direction.
“Our task is to attract as many smart, promising people into this sphere as possible. All over the world, this direction is the most promising, the number of people employed in this industry is growing exponentially. But in our republic, the IT sector is only beginning to develop,” Olesya Lungu, Executive Director of the IT Association said.
She noted that these days it was impossible to live without IT, because everything is digitalized. In her opinion, if we do not adapt to the new digital structure, then we will risk being left behind the modern life.
Conference participants studied each site with interest in the lobby of the Palace of the Republic. There they could assemble the computer system unit themselves, see the exhibits of the museum of computer technology and even face the virtual reality using special glasses.
The importance of attracting children to the IT sector was confirmed by the conference speaker, Director of Interactive Center Alexander Kuznetsov. He believes that modern children are the “Z” generation, which was born and is growing with a mobile phone in their hands.
“I am not an IT specialist, but as the father of a 9-year-old child, I began to understand that if my child was not given the opportunity to get in touch with these technologies now, after 8 years he would not be able to make an informed decision about where to go to study and in what field to work. Therefore, it’s very important for children to explain what IT capabilities are,” Alexander Kuznetsov said.
In addition to the Pridnestrovian speakers, Russian speakers also performed at the conference. One of them was Nikolay Zhuravlev, project coordinator for Rossotrudnichestvo in Pridnestrovie. He spoke about Russian educational platforms that allowed a person anywhere in the world to receive high-quality education in Russian, including in the field of IT.
“There is such a project as a Russian electronic school. Any Pridnestrovian schoolchild, teacher or parent can join it and participate in educational programs provided by the Russian Federation on an equal footing with Russians,” Nikolay Zhuravlev said.
As the speakers noted that it was possible to be an IT specialist, and earn money without leaving Pridnestrovie.
One such example is the of Alexander Kuznetsov`s company. Today, he made a presentation “Do what you love wherever you are.” Alexander Kuznetsov said that it was also the social slogan of his company, which 160 people work in. There are a number of social projects in the company that are aimed at ensuring on young people’s staying at homeland.
“Now there is the concept of a flat world developing, which says: no matter where you are, you have to decide on your favorite business that you would like to do, to become a cool expert. Therefore, you can stay in Pridnestrovie with your family and earn money. You can work for cross-border markets: stay here and work, for example, at Mail.ru, Sberbank of Russia, VTB and others,” Alexander Kuznetsov said.
That`s how the Pridnestrovian company DexTechnology works. Its Director, Ivan Gel, noted that, working in Pridnestrovie, the company participated in the international projects. Today, they prepared a platform for children where everyone could get acquainted with their work.
“Dex company is the number one IT company in Pridnestrovie. We develop mobile applications and web services for medium and large businesses. At the end of November, the company participated in the largest Tagline Awards digital competition. The Big3 application that we developed for the American Basketball League took second place among mobile applications for the western market,” Ivan Gel said.
According to him, the D-DAY 2 conference will be held in February, at which speakers from such well-known companies as Microsoft and Yandex will also participate. They will talk about artificial intelligence, computer reality and other topics from the IT sphere. A similar conference was held in July this year.
