Tiraspol, September, 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Andrey Vasiliev, a native of Krasnoe village Slobodzeya District, became the winner of the 45th WorldSkills-2019 Championship - together with his wife Elizaveta, he won gold medal in the Robotic Welding competency. In total, 1354 young professionals from 63 countries and regions participated in the championship.
Our compatriot competed at this level for the first time. He admitted that it had been hard morally and physically. Sometimes they were very tired, but still managed to cope with all the difficulties.
“This was like challenge for me. I have been working in this field for a year now, and I wanted to test my skills. The support of our team leader, who always motivated and mobilized our forces, affected us significantly,” Andrey Vasiliev said.
At the championship, the guys had the main task - to make a desk clock using sheet metal using a robot. Among the conditions of the task to be carried out is compliance with the necessary requirements for welding, size and quality of the product itself. Vasilievs managed to do this better than anyone.
“The point was to set up the welding process of the product so that you could substitute new work material there, click on the button and do nothing else,” he shared.
According to Andrey Vasiliev himself, they have an excellent team with his wife, they complement each other perfectly. He is good at welding, and she gets along great with robots.
The guys themselves admitted that they had serious competition with China. They went “toe to toe” to the last with representatives of the Celestial Empire, but on the last day they managed to create separation and become winners.
Our fellow countryman likes robotic welding for its multitasking and the ability to apply it in many fields. Among them are mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, restoration of worn parts and much more. He also stressed that he was keeping up with the times and was now on the very rage of that movement.
Andrey and Elizaveta Vasiliev participated in the championship as part of the Future Skills project. This is a competition for promising professions aimed at advanced training for high-tech production in a transforming economy. In 2019, the block was first included in the main program of the WorldSkills World Championship.
The WorldSkills Standards Championship is being held every two years and brings together participants from several dozen countries. Young professionals from around the world meet at the championship to compete for the chance to win a medal in one of the competencies.
They compete in 56 competencies in various fields: from carpentry to floristry, from hairdressing to electronics, from body repair to baking. Championship participants are selected at national competitions according to WorldSkills standards and are the best of the best in their country.
