Tiraspol, June, 2. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Films about Pridnestrovie were shown in a hero city of Sevastopol. There was held the International Festival of Documentary Films and TV Programs Won Together in the middle of May.
The competition among filmmakers, both experienced and beginners, was created back in 2004 in memory of the common feat of the participants of the Great Patriotic War, and today gathers authors from the CIS countries and Europe, united by a common historical past and cultural values/
This year more than 200 filmmakers from 35 countries of the world participated in the show, including from the USA, Italy, France, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Croatia, Romania, China and Israel. 83 films were selected for the final. Among them are the works of Pridnestrovian director Natalia Golub.
One of them, "I'm Taking Command..." tells about General Lebed and his role in restoring peace on the Dniester. The film was awarded a special diploma of the jury of the festival "For the importance of the topic and the restoration of historical truth."
The second prize-winner of the festival was the film "Executed and Unconquered". Its plot is based on the documentary chronicle and tells about the events that preceded the creation of Pridnestrovie as an independent republic.
Natalia Golub says that both Pridnestrovian films had been shown in the Moscow movie theatre with sell out hall. The audience, and these are jury, festival participants, and residents of Sevastopol, did not have enough seats in the hall. Someone even were sitting on the stairs and on the side chairs. After watching "Executed and Unconquered", many could not hide their emotions. Shots of the movie seem to have struck a chord.
“This is, of course, the quintessence of text, voice, and music, and those shots that are made in such a way as to get through. In our archives there are such shots, stories that do not leave anyone indifferent. We began our story from 1989, which led to the creation of our republic. The culmination is the military events in Dubossary and Bendery.”
The work on the documental film took the creative team about 2.5 months. Natalia acted as a scriptwriter and director. Vladimir Kiper was videographer and editor. Editor was Chairman of the Union of Journalists Natalia Vorobyeva.
“Against the background of the coming 30th anniversary of the republic, cinematographers, of course, could not stand aside and wanted to do a job that would represent the republic and return viewers to the events which our republic began its history with. The festival site is always a good reason to make a big statement about yourself, about people and about the unique fact of the creation of our republic in general,” Natalia Golub says.
Very soon, prize-winner films, including "Executed and Unconquered", will be shown on the TV channel of the First Sevastopol TV. A film about Pridnestrovie will also be shown at the Black Sea Higher Naval School named after P.S. Nakhimov and Sevastopol Presidential Cadet School.
Also, Pridnestrovian works were invited to participate in the patriotic festival The Shield of Russia and in the XXX Documentary Film Festival RUSSIA.
“We hope very much that there would be future life outside the festival and outside Pridnestrovie for our film. It is important for us, because it is necessary for the republic to be known about,” Natalia Golub emphasized.
“In our opinion, the Pridnestrovian director’s participation in such an international film event is not just a bridge to the creative world of cinema. This is a unique chance to be vocal in Pridnestrovie and its talents, to tell the truth, counting on a well-deserved positive reaction,” Igor Beloborodov, Executive Director of the Dniester-Prut Information and Analytical Center said.
By the way, Natalia Golub's participation in the festival in Sevastopol became possible thanks to the support of the DPC.
