St. Petersburg, April, 25. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The IX international forum of winners «The great Victory gained by unity» has opened in St. Petersburg.
It brought together more than two hundred participants: representatives of authorities, historians, searchers, journalists and social activists from Russia, Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Estonia and South Ossetia.
Among delegates and representatives of Pridnestrovie there are the deputy director of the Tiraspol joint museum Ruslana Lemesheva, the political analyst of Novosti Pridnestrovya News Agency Irina Iordanova and the head of the public organization «Grajdanscaya positiya» Alexander Stukalo.
The forum began with a wreath-laying ceremony from delegations to the Eternal flame at a monument «Motherland» of Piskaryovsky Memorial Cemetery this morning, then there were solemnly put the avenue «The great Victory gained by unity» and a memorable stone in honor of the 75 anniversary of liberation of Leningrad from fascist blockade in the square of Menshikovsky Avenue.
The plenary meeting which takes place in the Yeltsin Presidential library continues the program.
The Russian President's special representative on the international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi greeted the audience. He noted that representatives of 17 states whose warriors all together had protected the Soviet Union in days of the Great Patriotic War participated in a Forum.
The acting Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov read the welcome speech of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in which the courage of defenders of the fatherland which allowed them to reach the Great Victory was noted.
«Having passed the hardest tests, they stood, did not obey, did not lose belief. A brotherly unification of the people of the Soviet Union which broke Nazism is our general historical moral property», - is noted in Vladimir Putin's greeting.
After the plenary meeting work of the forum will be continued on four platforms sessions. Participants will exchange their experience.
The forum is held since 2010 by the fund of development «Institute of the Eurasian researches» together with the politological centre «Sever-Yug» with the assistance of interstate Fund of humanitarian cooperation of the State Parties of the CIS and Fund of presidential grants. Since 2018 the forum is implemented within the interstate project of the same name.
The Government of Saint Petersburg, Yeltsin Presidential library and the St. Petersburg state economic university act as partners of the Forum.
