Bendery, April, 1. / Novosti Pridnestrovya /. In Bendery remembered the victims of the tragic events of April 1, 1992, when the Moldavian OPON division committed the first armed attack against the city. In an unequal fight, the Pridnestrovian defenders lost 6 people. They died on the spot, among them there was civilian, 11 people were wounded. Later the militia captain Grigory Echin died of wounds. On the place of the tragedy the chapel was established.
Today the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, the Prime Minister Alexander Martynov, the Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Korshunov, representatives of all branches of the power, social activists, veterans and members of defenders families participated in mourning actions.
Before the meeting priests of the Tiraspol and Dubossary Diocese made a list for the peace of the dead.
As the Head of the Bendery state administration Roman Ivanchenko noted, events of 27-year divided city history on «before» and «after».
«This is bloody, a tragic page of history in the chronicle of our city. Events of 27-year put an end to a peaceful life. From that day and until input of peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation to the brought the citizens the feeling of safety. War – the most terrible thing – came to our land», - the Head of the city told.
In turn, the Head of the Bendery Department of Internal Affairs Dmitry Kargapolov emphasized that the memory of that tragedy has to be passed from father to son.
«On behalf of the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from myself personally I assure that the Bendery militiamen will be faithful to the oath, a debt and present ideas. They will courageously guard the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for our people», - Kargapolov added.
At the end of the meeting, the flower-laying ceremony was held.
