Tiraspol, December, 18. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. This year, Pridnestrovie for the first time in many years, showed a positive trend in investment. This was announced at a press conference by the President Vadim Krasnoselski. He called the 2018th year a year of investment, when the republic switched from using exclusively domestic resources of enterprises to attracting “fresh money” to the economy from the outside.
It should be reminded that this summer a new investment law came into force, providing for serious benefits and indulgences for those who want to invest in Pridnestrovian economy.
“We made a presentation of this law when 18 first ambassadors of European states had arrived in Tiraspol. Ambassadors from all over Europe listened to this presentation and watched the actions of our officials with interest, visited our economic entities, were surprised at Pridnestrovie development... There was interest shown immediately. Those ambassadors who were at this presentation started to convince their potential investors to invest in Pridnestrovie" - the Head of state said.
Now there are about 25 investment projects from businessmen from more than 12 countries registered in the republic.
“For about a decade, we had always had a minus, and even in 2017, in relation to 2016, it had also been a minus. This year we are seeing an increase of 46 percent compared with 2017. This, of course, is not the upper level that we aspire to, but it is a good step forward” - the President believes.
In order to consolidate success, and most importantly, its further development, Pridnestrovie needs to increase its credibility. This also applies to the transparency of officials` work, legislation reliability and clarity, as well as many other things. Many of the work lines in this area are displayed in the 8-year republic development strategy, which was presented today.
“As a result of the expiring years, and even two ones, in addition to the 46 percent growth in investments in Pridnestrovie, we can talk about a 30 percent of turnover increase in 2018 compared to 2017, and an increase in exports and imports. At the same time, export growth prevails over import growth, and we are nevertheless approaching the balance, so that there were about 55 percent by 45 percent between exports and imports” - Vadim Krasnoselski emphasized.
He also reminded that over 5,000 new jobs were created in the republic in the real sector of the economy.
