Tiraspol, 26 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovians share grief with Russians about those killed in a terrible fire in the Russian city of Kemerovo.
President Vadym Krasnoselsky, prime minister Alexander Martynov, speaker of the parliament Alexander Shcherba, representatives of government bodies and public organizations came to the outgoing consulate of the Russian Federation in Tiraspol to pay tribute to the memory of those killed as a result of the tragedy. They laid flowers and left a note in the book of condolences.
"When adults die, this is a tragedy; the death of one person is a tragedy. And when children die, this is beyond any reasonable explanation. The tragedy in Kemerovo is a great grief. The fire alarm system did not work in the place of mass gathering of citizens, children. Someone saved [money], did not repair it in time, and now it is difficult to compare [sic] the consequences. The families have lost their loved ones," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The president stressed that it is necessary to learn the right lessons from such tragic events and to pay special attention to the safety of people.
"Inspections cannot be excessive; they can be careless. Therefore, I am calling on all responsible officials to put human security at the centre of the matter. In order not to kill children in peacetime," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The head of state noted that along with the Russian Federation, Pridnestrovie would also declare a national mourning.
Sixty-four people died in a fire in Kemerovo's shopping mall “Winter Cherry” on 25 March; dozens remain in hospitals. Many visitors of the mall have not been found yet.
The causes of the fire are deemed to be arson or accidental fire. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has initiated a number of criminal cases. Four people have already been detained and questioned, including the tenant of the premises in which the fire had allegedly started. The head of the management company serving the mall building has also been detained.
