President Krasnoselsky holds final meeting ahead of Russia's presidential election

The meeting was attended by members of the Supreme Council, the government, the Central Election Commission, the Russian embassy in Moldova and the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, 15 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky held the final meeting ahead of Russia's presidential election with representatives of the Supreme Council, the Government, the Central Election Commission (CEC), the Russian embassy in Moldova, the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie, the president's press service reports.

Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that 24 polling stations would open in Pridnestrovie on 18 March. They were provided with all the necessary equipment. The state agencies and public organisations responsible for the preparation and conduct of voting had worked in close cooperation with the Russian embassy in Moldova, the president added.

According to the chairwoman of the CEC, Elena Gorodetskaya, at the moment the main burden is lying with precinct election commissions headed by representatives of the Russian embassy.

According to her, the heads of state administrations of cities and regions have visited all polling stations. Within the next two days, members Pridnestrovie's CEC will inspect them as well. Elena Gorodetskaya noted that most polling stations were equipped with voting booths and ballot boxes. "All measures have been taken to minimise queues at the polling stations," added Gorodetskaya.

Elena Gorodetskaya expressed her gratitude to the Russian embassy for providing information materials. Sixty thousand ads with all the information necessary for voters are placed in the most visited places. Thirty-seven thousand memos with information on the location of polling stations and the documents needed for voting have been distributed among Pridnestrovians receiving Russian pensions.

"In accordance with the decision of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, it will be possible to vote with 'expired' passports. The expired term of the document does not entail the loss of the right to vote," explained Elena Gorodetskaya.

Gorodetskaya informed the president that observers would work at each polling station. She also announced the holding of numerous events and actions with the participation of young people in the country on the on the eve of the Russian elections.

Vadim Krasnoselsky, in turn, gave a number of instructions to the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of State Security, setting a goal for them to serve in an enhanced regime to ensure public order and prevent provocations on election day.
