Tiraspol, 30 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The only way to solve the Moldo-Pridnestrovian conflict is to recognise Pridnestrovie. Morally, Moldova is not ready to do it, but the Pridnestrovian diplomats can help their colleagues. Such a statement was made by President Vadim Krasnoselsky at a panel meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dedicated to its 25th anniversary.
«The situation is not easy today. We have experienced a lot — hostilities, blockades, crises in diplomatic relations and negotiating process. But many are realising that the so-called Pridnestrovian problem cannot be resolved by force and adopting some other means — diplomatic pressure and deception. And, of course, the main burden is on you — diplomatic servicemen. You are at the forefront of the fight; you stand up for the interests of Pridnestrovie in the outer perimeter of our country. It is not easy for you; sometimes it may be even unpleasant to communicate, exchange views, prove your position, but this is your job," Vadim Krasnoselsky appealed to diplomats.
The president expressed his belief that the Moldo-Pridnestrovian conflict could not be resolved through reintegration and federalisation because the fundamental principle of the geopolitical rift, which has existed for centuries, — a clash of the West and the Russian world — would persist.
«The only way to resolve our conflict is to recognise Pridnestrovie. I am convinced that many Moldovan politicians understand this issue should be resolved peacefully, through political means. And they are ready, by and large, to recognise Pridnestrovie at the back of their mind. But given the electoral cycles that are continuing in Moldova, they are not prepared to do so morally. But we can help Moldovan politicians to recognise Pridnestrovie, which would resolve our conflict," stressed the president.
Such assistance, first of all, can be provided by our diplomats through a competent diplomatic dialogue and the continuation of the negotiating process in any possible format.
Speaking about negotiating platforms, Krasnoselsky recalled that Moldovan President Dodon's statement that a meeting in the «5+2» format is impossible because Pridnestrovie is insisting on including the issue of joint posts in the agenda and this is exclusively an internal affair of Moldova and Ukraine.
«This position is strange because this very Berlin Protocol says that all issues should be resolved exclusively at the negotiating table. Therefore, it is a stalemate position. It is impossible to conduct negotiations without actually negotiating. This is why Pridnestrovie has traditionally supported any negotiating process. This is our vital need. We are making dramatic strides towards our Moldovan colleagues. We are open and absolutely ready to negotiate," said the president.
On the 25th anniversary, the head of state wished the diplomats to preserve traditions and a peaceful sky over our heads.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the president awarded a number of diplomats state decorations and diplomas.
